Nutrition

Every day I field a handful questions like "what does X do" or "what supplements do you take" or "what do I take to get stronger/faster/lose fat/get a six-pack/etc."  This page is not meant to serve as the end-all-be-all, but simply as a place to start.

Diet...

CrossFit is shifting their support from the Zone Diet to the Paleo Diet.  Which is right for you?  Are either right for you?  The first question you need to ask yourself is: Are you willing to put forth the time and effort to learn about your body and what makes you perform at optimal levels or are you just looking for a fad diet to drop 5 lbs in 3 hours?

Now on to supplementation...

What do I mean by supplements?  Do I mean Human Growth Hormone and steroids?  No.  I am talking about the supplements that will get your body to perform as nature intends it to.  Oh, and just to be clear, I am not a medical professional so you should talk to your health care provider about your specific scenario (CrossFit Dam Neck's Legal Dept thanks you for not suing).

This list is ever expanding so if you would like me to research anything specific email me at CrossFitDamNeck@gmail.com and I will look it to it for you.

Fish Oil:  Due to the shift food sources over the last several thousand years, our essential fatty acids have shifted from a 1:1 or 1:2 omega-3:omega:6 ratio to 1:20 or worse.  This is a bad thing because when the omega-6s outnumber the omega-3s it hampers the positive health effects of the omega-3s (anti-inflamatory just to name one).  Excessive omega-6:omega-3 ratios have also been linked to a number of health issues (like heart attacks).
